Celebration of 250th Year of America

Saturday, July 4, 2026 (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

Volunteers from the Ephraim Andrews Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) & the Mason Historical Society have sponsored a new pecan tree to highlight the history of our community as we celebrate America250.

The dedication will take place on July 4, 2026 at 4:30 in the afternoon on the lawn of the historical Mason County Courthouse. Refreshments will be served.

Large trees in towns all across the Colonies were popular meeting places. In 1765, a group of patriots who were very strongly opposed to the Stamp Act planned protests at an old elm tree in Boston. Soon, a copper plate appeared on the tree naming it the “Tree of Liberty.” The focus of the DAR’s commemorative efforts across the country are to celebrate the nation’s rich history and diversity of experiences by honoring all men and women who helped achieve American independence. DAR members, inspired by the service of their Revolutionary War ancestors, are celebrating through acts of community service and hosting educational events. “We appreciate all the work so many are doing to mark America 250!,” said Ginnie Sebastian Storage, DAR President General. “As part of our organization’s mission to preserve and promote American history, education, and patriotism, DAR is proud to host so many events nationwide to honor and celebrate America.” About the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) One of the largest patriotic women’s service organizations in the world, DAR has close to 190,000 members in approximately 3,000 chapters across the country and several foreign countries. DAR members promote historic preservation, education and patriotism via commemorative events, scholarships and educational initiatives, citizenship programs, service to veterans, meaningful community service and more.
